International Women's Day | Pip Edwards

We're thrilled to wrap up our International Women's Day series with fashion entrepreneur and style icon, Pip Edwards.

Boasting an impressive history in the fashion industry, working for brands such as sass & bide and Ksubi, Pip used those skills to launch the active wear brand P.E. Nation in 2016, along with business partner Claire Tregoning, and the brand is now due to open its first flagship store in Sydney.

The retro style that Pip brings to P.E Nation is also very much reflected in her home, which houses some stunning pieces from Sarah Ellison and House of Slim and, most recently, our Formes Velvet Arm Chair.

We chat to Pip as she lets us into her beautiful home and shows us how fashion can translate into interiors.

This March, we’re celebrating International Women’s Day by featuring a business minded or interior focused woman every week for four weeks and this weeks woman in focus is the co-founder of P.E Nation, Pip Edwards.

How would you describe your personal interior style?

It's really an eclectic mix of vintage pieces, pieces from my travels around the world, and new modern furniture. It’s a calming balance of colour and grounding. I love colour in my everyday life, and in my work, so it's important to reflect that in my home, but in a way that makes my place calm, happy, and homely.

What do you consider to be the most important/ rewarding thing about being a woman in 2022?

Having a voice, and having the courage to use it and express how you feel is so important to anyone’s wellbeing. After what we have endured, we have to connect even harder to our passion and purpose, and speak our truth and be proud to be different, be proud to be yourself, and be proud of who you are and what you have done. The current landscape is more accepting of voices from all walks of life, and leads to a more colourful rich perspective and I love that.

We are huge fans of your brand P.E Nation and love the use of pattern and colour within your ranges! We can see a similarity within your beautiful home space, do you feel like fashion can translate into interiors?

I feel there is a definite correlation, and it's about the balance of colour, spatial awareness, and the fine line of clashing print, colour and silhouettes. I tend to like to make a room more full, I love detail and I love personality, and I love colour. In particular what the colour means and its effects energetically. Green is grounding, is represents abundance and growth. Blue is cool, and associated with the sky and ocean and represents freedom, intuition, imagination, expansion and inspiration.

So, tell us why you chose the products you did and how you styled them within your home?

I have an obsession with marble and the House of Slim pieces are sculpturally incredible and become quite a statement in any room. The weight of the coffee table is balanced by the soft fluffy teddy of the boucle Sarah Ellison chair, which is in the reading corner, near the door to the garden. Clashing heavy and light pieces creates a grounding calm balance.
